“Steadfast Love” Song Video
During the recent storm in Dallas, Texas, our beautiful red oak tree split and fell on portions of our house. This tree was about 150 years old. In the fall the leaves turned a bright cranberry red. The tree towered over our house, and people from all around our neighborhood stopped on their walk to marvel at it.
We’ve lived in this house for 40 years, loving and caring for this tree, the centerpiece of our backyard. But early on the morning of May 28, in a split second, the tree came crashing down. We had thought this tree was steadfast and would be there long after we would, but we discovered it was also mutable.
So many of the songs in Hersay, which Katie Ketchum and I created a little while before the pandemic, have resonated with me through many challenges, including this loss of our tree and displacement from our home.
The Hersay song “Steadfast Love” came to me as I experienced anew the truth that only Divine Love is steadfast.
Steadfast Love, living deep in all,
gives us strength whenever we call.
Steadfast Love every day will grow,
as with Her we peacefully flow.
