“Sing of Peace” Video
December 3 is the first Sunday of Advent, when we light the candle of hope. How we need hope!
Wars are raging around our world. In our country and around the world violence based on gender and race, violence against our environment, mass shootings, and daily gun violence also destroy lives. We may feel hopeless, thinking peace will never come. Where can we find hope? How can we sing of peace?
We can find hope in our faith communities and in other groups of people committed to peace and justice. In our communities we can sing of peace, believing in the power of our words and music to drive our actions for change. We can join together with many others to sing our visions of peace into reality.
This holy season invites us to sing of a world of peace. We can find hope as we sing our visions of peace into reality, envisioning and working toward an end to wars and all violence. We can sing of the change our hearts long for. We can sing of peace and justice for all people and all creation.
“Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all Her paths are peace” (Proverbs 3:17).
Sing of peace, holy peace;
sing of all gifts released.
As we work for peace on earth,
new creation comes to birth;
Christ-Sophia is born;
Christ-Sophia is born.
Sing of peace, holy peace.
When will all violence cease?
Through our justice work each day,
Wisdom comes to show the way;
Christ-Sophia is born;
Christ-Sophia is born.
Sing of peace, holy peace;
hope and joy now increase.
Through our works of love each day,
Holy Wisdom comes to stay;
Christ-Sophia is born;
Christ-Sophia is born.
