“She Is Everywhere” Video
The Divine lives in everyone and everything. She is everywhere.
“I, the fiery life of divine essence, am aflame beyond the beauty of the meadows. I gleam in the waters, and I burn in the sun, moon and stars.” (St. Hildegard of Bingen)
“Earth’s crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with God.” (Elizabeth Barrett Browning)
Often we miss the Sacred because we’re preoccupied, hurried, or distressed over all the pain, violence, and injustices in our world. We may question whether the Holy One is everywhere. Do you believe the Divine is everywhere, even in the midst of struggles and suffering? Where do you experience the Divine?

“She Is Everywhere” was the theme of the 2018 fall festival at Ebenezer/herchurch Lutheran in San Francisco. At the festival I heard Katie Ketchum, lead musician at herchurch, sing a beautiful song she had written with the title of the festival theme. A few days later Katie invited me to add lyrics to “She Is Everywhere.” I had gone from San Francisco to Eugene, Oregon, to visit my cousin Julie in her lovely home. Sitting at a table in front of a tall picture window, looking out at the sun gleaming through majestic trees, I felt inspired to write additional words. It was a joy to collaborate with Katie on “She Is Everywhere.”
She is Everywhere,
in the oceans and the trees.
She is Everywhere,
in the desert and the seas.
She is Everywhere,
in our heart and in our soul.
She is Everywhere,
through the world to make all whole.
She is Everywhere,
in the pain of children crying.
She is Everywhere,
in the voice of justice sighing.
She is Everywhere,
in the call of mothers searching.
She is Everywhere,
in the chant we are rehearsing.
She is Everywhere,
in the artists’ colors mingling.
She is Everywhere,
in the harmonies of singing.
She is Everywhere
in the visions we keep holding.
She is Everywhere,
in the change we see unfolding.
