“Hear Our Cries, Sophia,” sung by Tiana Marquez
In 2018 at a Christian Feminism Today gathering, I met Tiana Marquez and had delightful conversations with her. There I heard her beautiful singing voice, and I’ve also loved hearing her solos at Zoom gatherings of Ebenezer/herchurch Lutheran.
Tiana honored me by recording some of my songs, which she plans to include on her next CD.
Here is Tiana singing “Hear Our Cries, Sophia.”
Refrain:
Hear our cries, hear our cries, hear our cries, Sophia;
hear our cries, hear and arise; hear and arise, Sophia.
You cry out with us; you feel injustice with us.
How long, how long will wrong prevail? Hear and arise, Sophia. Refrain
Come, give us courage when evildoers flourish;
with you we all will overcome; hear and arise, Sophia. Refrain
Come, give us wisdom to work with you for freedom;
with you we will create new life; hear and arise, Sophia. Refrain
