“We Will All Resist,” led by Vontril McLemore and DeShay Freemyer-Jackson at The Gathering, A Womanist Church
There is much to resist these days. We may feel overwhelmed by all the injustices in our world. But all together we can rise up stronger to resist these injustices.
Recently, Vontril McLemore and DeShay Freemyer-Jackson led the congregation at The Gathering, A Womanist Church in singing “We Will All Resist.” After the song, Rev. Dr. Irie Lynne Session preached a rousing sermon on resistance, “Collective Resistance: Ready or Not It’s Time to Shift” with Romans 12:1-2 as her text. The Gathering’s mission is to resist injustice, “to follow Jesus, partner in ministry to transform our lives together, and to go create an equitable world.” Our social justice priorities are “racial equity, dismantling PMS (Patriarchy, Misogyny, and Sexism), and LGBTQIA equality.“
We will rise up; we will all resist;
we will rise up; we will all resist,
for we will rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
Equal rights for women will not be denied;
equal rights for women will not be denied,
for we willl rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
Justice for all races will not be denied;
justice for all races will not be denied,
for we will rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
Justice for all genders will not be denied;
justice for all genders will not be denied,
for we will rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
Human rights will never ever be denied;
human rights will never ever be denied,
for we will rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
We will rise up; we will all resist;
we will rise up; we will all resist;
for we will rise up stronger all together;
we will all resist.
