“Yet it was you who took me from the womb; you kept me safe on my mother’s breast.
On you I was cast from my birth, and since my mother bore me, you have been my God” (Psalm 22:9-10).
A beautiful biblical Divine Feminine image is the Sacred Midwife, aiding in birth and protection of young. This biblical divine image is powerful affirmation for midwives, who for centuries were suspected, maligned, stifled, imprisoned, excommunicated, even burned as witches. Imagine how different things would have been had this biblical image been taken seriously.
The Divine Midwife aids all of us in birthing new ways of life. She guides us “through unknown space, calling us to move into a new place.”
Join with Her in giving life;
join in labor with the Sacred Midwife;
She is guiding through unknown space,
calling us to move into a new place.
