Thank you for your comment, Mr. McHue. Rev. Schultz is not saying that God is a tree or anything else, but is using metaphors, figures of speech, to try to describe the God beyond human imagination. The Bible uses many metaphors for God, including “rock” and “fortress” (Psalm 31:3); “shield” and “stronghold” (Psalm 18:2); “light” (Psalm 27:1). This doesn’t mean that God is literally a rock, fortress, shield, etc., but that God is like these in some ways.

That’s a good question, Claudia! And I don’t have all the answers. Maybe some women see other women on paths that they wonder if they should have taken. I long for the day when women will support one another, whatever choices we have made.
