Schultz is not saying that God is a tree or anything else, but is using metaphors, figures of speech, to try to describe the God beyond human imagination. The Bible uses many metaphors for God, including &quot;rock&quot; and &quot;fortress&quot; (Psalm 31:3); &quot;shield&quot; and &quot;stronghold&quot; (Psalm 18:2); &quot;light&quot; (Psalm 27:1). This doesn&#039;t mean that God is literally a rock, fortress, shield, etc., but that God is like these in some ways.</description>
